Parish Religious Education Program

Our mission here at Saint Joseph P.R.E.P. is to bring

Jesus' message of faith to our children. We will

strive to see our children work together in our community,

in harmony with no bearing to race of religion.

Our children will learn to respect their fellow man and to carry

the Holy Spirit Close in their hearts.

The  Parish Religious Education Program strives to catechize our children through sharing the basic elements of the Catholic faith and preparation for the reception of Sacraments.  This is done in a classroom setting using a variety of teaching techniques.  A student that is catechized in the P.R.E.P throughout their elementary school years should finish 8th grade knowledgeable about the following areas:  Traditions and history of the Catholic Church; key stories of Scripture; Catholic morality; Prayer; and the Sacramental life of the Catholic Church.

Grades 1-8 (English)

Students attend classes at Saint Joseph School on Saturday mornings from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

It is important for your child to continue their faith formation in the Catholic faith. Children who are to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion are to be baptized and have had two years of sacramental teaching (in a row) starting in the first grade or in other advanced grades.

Grades 1-8 and Confirmation (Spanish)

Students attend classes at Saint Joseph School in Session I on Saturday afternoons from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Session II classes for the same grades take place on Monday evenints from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Saint Joseph School.

Students in grade eight and up, thirteen years in age, have had three years of sacramental teaching and complete the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion are eligible for Confirmation.

Expectations

It is expected that students be enrolled every year to learn all that they need to know about their faith at every age. Let us form the new generation of Catholics with a good GOD foundation. Parents are the first and most important catechists in a child's faith formation.  The single best thing you can do for your child is to attend Mass together each week.
